The wait is almost over! On June 10, 2026, Royal Caribbean officially took ownership of its newest mega-ship, Legend of the Seas, during a ceremony at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland. As the third spectacular vessel in the revolutionary Icon Class, Legend is breaking from tradition by launching its inaugural season in Europe this July, offering 7-night Western Mediterranean adventures. This fall, the massive ship will head across the Atlantic to its permanent homeport in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where it will kick off sun-soaked Western and Southern Caribbean itineraries.

Carnival Cruise Line president Christine Duffy recently led a ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the official grand opening of the newly expanded RelaxAway destination at Half Moon Cay in The Bahamas. The beloved private island, a long-time favorite for Holland America and Carnival guests, now boasts a brand-new pier that allows Carnival’s massive Excel-class ships to dock easily. Additional upgrades include fresh beach bars and grills, expanded cabana rentals, a complimentary tram service, and a beautiful new walking path.

Norwegian Cruise Line has adjusted the itinerary for Norwegian Sun due to a minor, ongoing technical issue with its propulsion system. The captain assured guests that the issue only affects the ship's maximum speed and does not compromise safety. Because the ship must travel slower, scheduled stops in Sweden and Lithuania have been swapped for relaxing days at sea, while a visit to Poland was replaced with a scenic call to Rønne, Denmark. NCL is issuing $100 onboard credits and 25% future cruise credits to make up for the change.
Why you should care: It is a good reminder that mechanical hiccups can happen, but lines work hard to keep you comfortable, safe, and fairly compensated with extra spending money.
Carnival Corporation has expanded its innovative surplus meal donation program to the Dominican Republic, making it the 19th port globally to join the cause. In coordination with local authorities and the Archdiocese of Puerto Plata, the crew of Mardi Gras successfully offloaded its first batch of prepared, unserved surplus meals to support the local community. The cruise line plans to quickly expand the practice to all Carnival ships visiting Amber Cove.
Why you should care: You can feel good knowing that your favorite cruise line is actively making a positive, sustainable impact on the wonderful Caribbean communities you visit.
